History/News - Kiawah Island Shoot June 2003

The Kiawah shoot was the shoot of a lifetime and I certainly wasn't going all that way without getting a chance to play the famous Ocean course. This course, designed by the top designer Pete Dye was the scene of the famous 'Wore on the Shore' Ryder Cup won by the Americans in 1991 and more recently the venue of Golf's World Cup. Of the four fabulous courses here this course includes fairways carved out of sandy waste areas where the 'bunkers' stretch the full length of the hole. Other holes have long carries over the water hazards including alligators and green surrounded by seriously deep bunkers and slick slope that almost drag your ball off the greens.

Miss the green left of the par 3 14th at your peril, trying to get the ball to stop on this green from here is almost impossible.

Taking on the 240 yard carry over the water on the famous par 3 17th Hole. Fortunately, the wind wasn’t against and I made it to the green!
