James Robinson the talented Southport &Ainsdale and Gathurst golfer has stepped up a gear and demonstrated in the space of a few weeks how is game is now capable of competing with the best in the region if not the country.

Starting the season at 1.9 handicap over little less than five events he has now reduced to +0.8 and been given the opportunity to compete in the final qualifying rounds along with leading amateurs from Europe in the Brabazon Trophy at Ganton Golf Club.

James' recent scoring win included him winning Southport and Ainsdales prestigious 36 hole gross Scratch Trophy (76-68), The Blackburn-Holden Cup (36 hole-142) and Spring Meeting(68-1-67) round 2 meeting. A solid performance in the Lancashire Boys Championship at Ashton in Lea Golf Club (72 -73) followed by level par 71 in the recent Faldo Series event at the Marriot Worsley Park .
