Future Stars - Luke Burrows

Before I started coaching Luke in mid 2002 he had already shown what a natural talent he was by winning his club championship at the tender age of 13 plus shooting so many low scores for someone so young.

I would class Luke as a player with lots of natural flair and talent, but don't be fooled by thinking it comes easy, as few people hit as many balls as Luke does in a week.

Luke's technique was originally too 'handsy' in the takeaway and a little too much 'up and under' in the through swing- a little like Monty.

Simplifying his takeaway and making his turn through the ball more rotary has reduced a lot of unnecessary motion in his swing and combined with Luke's very natural late hit he hits the ball along way with an easy graceful motion. Luke has already demonstrated a cool temperament in big junior events and this will serve him well as he begins to play more important senior events this coming season.

Won best gross at 2004 Lymm G.C Junior Open 71, level par.
Played England schoolboys under 18's at Tankersley Park.
Played England schoolboys under 16's at Walsall 2004, finished 6th overall.
Won Royal Birkdale 2004 Junior Open under 15's prize.
Played for Leigh GC's mens Victory Trophy team, winning team best gross and net 2004.
