Future Stars - James Robinson

James RobinsonAdrian's comments 2004:
When I first started coaching James he was a skinny 13-year-old 14-handicap player with a flattish backswing but lots of potential.

Now he is 2 handicap, grown about 2 feet more and happily pitches the ball over the 250-yard marker on the range.

James's handicap has more than halved each season and although currently two I fully expect him to reach his immediate goal of scratch in 2005. James has worked hard on swing technique systematically improving any weaknesses he possessed early on. He has a very orthodox powerful technique hitting the ball along way from his tall, lightweight but powerful frame. His swing is much more simple now moving up and down a simple efficient plane not dissimilar in style to Ian Poulter however James' is beginning to manage his Poulter like trait to hit everything 'flat out' when it's not really necessary to score well.

James has featured very well in the Faldo series and Lancashire and schoolboy events. At club level he has represented the club in the Victory trophy and you can see from his achievements he is capable of some great scoring. I believe like many of the younger guys coming through, this coming year will see James win and feature well in some big county events and team matches.
